Vegan Diner Errata

This is the page where you will find any typos or corrections for Vegan Diner. Feel free to let me know in the comment section if you’ve found others. Even though we spent hundreds of hours going through the manuscript, there’s always a few things that seem to get by.

Page 42: My Big Fat Greek Scramble. It should say 14 ounces of tofu, not 1 1/4 ounces.

This is minor, but I think there is an error in the tip on page 170 about the size container for the Great Smoky Mountain Cheeze (which is delicous!). The tip says that you use a mini loaf pan with a 2 1/2 cup capacity. Then it says: “You can also use a 1 1/2 cup plastic container, which works well, too.” The batch I made would not fit into a 1 1/2 cup container. This is not a big problem, but I think it is a typo.

Here is another picky little typo. On page 94 for Philly Seitan Sliders, the ingredients list says “see Pot Roast, page 000, or Smoky Seitan Roast, page 117″. Obviously the 000 was a place holder with the page number to be filled in after the full layout was finished. That should be 117. But the 117 after the Smoky Seitan Roast is incorrect–it should be 114.

This book is so good it is bound to have a second printing, and these typos can be corrected then.

Hi Julie
Is the above recipe in your new book Vegan Diner, please?
On Youtube for Tofu Agedashi and hot tempura sauce, you did not mention any weights/amounts for the sauce. Please can you give me an idea? Thankyou.

I don’t know yet if you found the agedashi tofu, but it’s on the everydaydish.tv web site. Scroll down, and click on the tofu link. You’ll find it there. I didn’t find the hot tempura sauce recipe, but I didn’t look in all the categories for it either.

Hi Julie,

I just got your book and I am so excited to start cooking! In the Garlic Mashers recipe, in the introductory paragraph, “disappoint” is spelled incorrectly. Also, and probably more importantly, there is no garlic listed in the ingredient list or in the directions themselves.

Take care,
Lori

Hi Julie,

For the Smoky Seitan Roast p. 114 there’s a duplicate sentence in the last paragraph. “. . .Unwrap the roast from the tea towel or foil. Let roast cool on the board and refrigerate until ready to use. Let roast cool on the board and refrigerate in a covered container (or zip-top bag) until ready to use.”

Hey Julie,

My bf and I found a really weird sentence in your book–a word seems to be missing. On page 11–

“Tempeh has a chewy, nutty flavor.”

How can anything have a chewy flavor? :-o
